Australian Open 2011

While my entire family is obsessing over football, I've been watching the Australian Open. The Aussie Open is a grand slam event in Tennis (sort of like play offs). I'm probably the only person I know who ranks tennis as my favorite sport. I love everything about the game. I'll submit Fernando Verdasco as exhibit "A" to make my point. The fact that he's joined by scores of others playing in one of the most beautiful cities in the world (that would be Melbourne, Australia) is a bonus.

Kind words about Melbourne, but always in the eyes of the beholder. What the television perhaps doesn't capture is the excellent and friendly atmosphere and generally fairly polite behaviour.

What about the mysterious dead zone on the court? Aliens?

Tennis is my favorite sport. Has been for decades. My favorite surface is clay and I've been to Roland Garros a bunch of times. So much fun (except when it rains, but even then it's not bad).

I'm thinking of going to the Paris Masters in November. I like Verdasco, too, but I hate what he does with his hair! I'm so superficial... ;)

As a Melbournian, I thank you.
The open is a great event. What better... than hot sweaty disrobing publicly to rapturous applause.
