Beaten by Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup

The fact that I just wrote about redoubling my commitment to the gym in my previous post only makes the fact I polished off an entire pint of B&J's Peanut Butter Cup tonight all the more disheartening.

In all fairness, I did reference ice cream as a reason that I would never have the body of the hunk below :-(

What's a guy to do?

I am so angry...

You might be angry but I bet it was satisfying and DELICIOUS!!!

I am just as angry as you are - I finished a dozen (yes, 12) chocolate-covered ginger cookies the other night. I'm almost positive they were not on any diet list.

What's a guy to do? Share your ice cream with other guys who think your scrumptious just the way you are *wink*

You should have called me. I would have come over and shared. Don't be too hard on yourself. The new year is young!

Remember the we start out new, fresh, clean slates every day....every HOUR!... of our lives. Seriously, at the end of each day I try to let my less than amiable actions of the day rest. Rest. Away. We all do it, you're not unusual. It's how we get out of the corner that counts...not how we ended up there. And, at least you have good taste in ice cream

Don't be angry! I bet that it was good! God, I love peanut butter, chocolate, and let's see what else...cheese, whiskey, chocolate chip cookies, blueberry muffins, potato chips, the small of a man's back, a man's treasure trail, a man's ass...OOPPSS!! I digress...my friend, join the club!

Recommit tomorrow!

Come on Bos Man don't get weak on us. Knock that shit off. At least until February when every North Easterner needs sun and/or ice cream. That ice cream will cost you an extra 30 minutes on the treadmill. And we are all watching!

I bet it was a scrumptious way to break a diet. Nothing wrong with treating yourself once in awhile.

I have noticed something at the gym over the past few days. There are men who are not in great shape and never have been. They get on the scale, shake their heads, sigh and walk away. Then there are men who have always been in good shape and maybe put on 8 ounces over the holidays. They are the ones who get angry. (They are also the ones I want to beat to death with a smelly running shoe.) So your complaint sounds hollow.

:)

Besides, if he wanted all of us to look that good, God would not have given us B&J PBC.

Let me be clear, my frustration is not that I ate the B&J ice cream. I have a mad love affair w/ ice cream that dates back as far as I can recall.

My anger / frustration was that I polished off an entire pint in one sitting. I didn't even make a pretense to eat it over a couple of days.

How do I spell gluttony?

The more B&J you eat, the less there is available for me, so thank you for that :-)

[I wrote TWO lengthy comments which I subsequently deleted because they were too rough. I don't think I can write anything that doesn't come off as rude here, so I'll stop now and just wish you better luck.]

I do totally understand. I never met a potato chip I did not like. Anybody who suggests that I not have them in the house is likely to get a string of expletives and doubts regarding his mother's virtue in reply. But I also know I am my own worst critic. You may be yours. On the bright side, it was only a pint. Not like it was a half gallon.

I hear ya! Ice cream is one of my biggest weaknesses

That's got to hurt. Get over the lapse and move forward. Use that anger!

My gym has this 80/20 rule posted on the wall in the weights room that says you can eat junk food if you limit intake to 20% of your total calorie input. Sounds reasonable to me, I've stopped obsessing about having chocolate occasionally. But no more ice cream for you for another week, I suppose. :)

Relax. It's just friggin' ice cream - don't beat yourself up over it.
