You're amazing just the way you are

Tonight a scene from the Fox TV show, Glee, had a wedding scene that touched my heart, cheesy as it was. No matter how confident and comfortable I am in my own skin - I wish this show was on television when I was a teenager.

Were you bullied? If you were - can you relate to the storyline? I'd like to hear from you.

It was pretty awesome scene. I wasn't really bullied so no story to relate.

I was bullied. The only reason why it stopped is because I learned the hard way how to land a punch.

One incident in particular I thought of while Kurt was in the office with Sue. Many years ago I spoke to administrators after one guy sucker punched me and all they could do was re-admit him to school after he did his two weeks in Juvenile Hall.

I wanted a piece of this guy to "make it better" but before I could he got in real trouble by torching a car in his neighborhood and getting caught. And he was thirteen!

Yeah I caught a little bit of shit in elementary school as well as high school.

The elementary school was easy to deal with. I just slammed the head of my chief instigators head against a brick wall for a minute or two. That was enough to send the message that I wasn't going to take shit from anyone.

High school had its share but not too bad.

I think it's because it was all Catholic schools and the code of conduct kind of prevented the heavy duty stuff. And this was prior to Facebook etc. I'd be horrified today to deal with the crap kids get on Facebook now.

It was truly touching. I found myself thinking how it would have made a difference for me as a teen growing up with such a wonderful show. You are right, it was so awfully cheesy, but still touching and important. Kudos to Fox (for once)!

As for being bullied... not a lot, but I did have kids make fun of me as I also had a hearing loss, wore glasses (and was in the closet). Kids used to call me Helen Keller...

I was bullied so badly and so often that it caused stomach problems. Then I started working out, like many gay men, to defend myself. Nobody messed with me in college...lol.

By the way, loved reading up on your Australia trip.

It didn't bring back any bullying memories, but when they were dancing it made me realize how powerful just seeing two men dance with each other truly is. No matter how many shirtless gay club dancing moments we may have had, seeing two guys just dance like that is incredibly moving.

I'm really fortunate--not a lot of bullying, but I worked really HARD at that.

I did everything I could to fit in and even at that, it was only just barely.

I did have a period in the 5th grade where a new kid was relentless with me...I skipped school for a month. Would have been longer but my mother found out.

When I went back to school, he was all "where have you been?" like nothing ever happened.

bullies are forever clueless.

For the first time, something on Glee moved me to tears. I had heard the song Flinn sang to Kurt over the radio and wondered what it would be like to one guy to sing to another. And here it was, and I cried.

Yes, particularly in grammar school. I was bookish, geeky, new all the answers and studied hard, ergo I was "weird" and "faggy", etc. Fortunately, I was able to stand being lonely as I had very few friends. High school was a bit better (both grammar and high schools were Catholic which was no particular help in my case).

College was heaven!
