Serenading Kurt: Teenage Dream

Watching Glee makes me wish I could be a teenager all over again. Its hard for me to imagine having TV shows w/ characters like Kurt on air. I grew up thinking I was mentally ill and only sexually depraved individuals were attracted to the same sex.

Its quite hard to articulate the impact that had but many of my contemporaries and certainly men older than me understand. I suppose that is partly why I can watch clips like this serenading of Kurt over and over again. Its hard for me to fathom that pop culture has moved so far in such a short period. Fear not, political changes are inevitable when clips like this play in middle America and ratings place Glee as one of the most popular shows in prime time.

That was beautiful in all kinds of ways.

Geez...I'm with you, my friend! Who'd have thought? All those years being scared of letting people know who I truly was. It's not that long ago, and, yet, we've come so far.

It did get better. But we still have a way to go. The great joy I experience in watching this clip is tinged with sadness for young men like Matthew Shepard and Tyler Clementi.

I can't recall this EVER happening before. I'm so pleased to see it on the TV, and cheers to the Glee folk for embracing this whole-heartedly. I'm with you WranglerMan - given the moment in history where we find ourselves, this clip does offer a hopeful view that is unfortunately not a true reality. Still, it warmed my heart and made me a little nostalgic, which is why I watch the dang show anyway.
